Monday, February 27, 2017

Centerville’s entire Square is listed on the National Register of Historic Places because of the significance that the Square plays in the development of Centerville as the county seat of Appanoose County. The district includes 119 buildings, which includes the business buildings that face the Square for two full blocks plus some extra buildings on each side. Also, the Square includes an expansion, deemed the Gypsy Quarter. The Gypsy Quarter is recognized as specializing in having the area’s most unique and affordable clothing for women, men and children. There are opportunities to purchase accessories, home decor, vintage items, outdoor art, and much more. Other businesses that you can find in the Square include: eateries, professional services, unique retail and service opportunities, flower and other specialty shoppes, appliances and furniture stores, lodging, and the historic Appanoose County Courthouse.
