Centerville, Iowa, has the distinction of being the first location that a Missouri bank stretched beyond its borders into Iowa. In 1996, Farmers Bank of Northern Missouri opened its first Iowa branch in Centerville. Farmers Bank was originally founded in 1900 in Unionville, Missouri.
