Sustainable New Home Construction

The availability of affordable housing decreased in nearly half of all U.S. counties from 2000 to 2013, according to an NPR analysis of Urban Institute data.
This makes the mission of the Chariton Valley Regional Housing Trust Fund even more salient. The nonprofit provides safe and affordable housing options to residents in Appanoose, Lucas, Monroe and Wayne. Its sustainable new home construction program includes a partnership with the Indian Hills Community College building and trades class.
CVRHTF initially received funding from the Iowa Finance Authority but now each home sale funds the purchase of land and construction of a new home. Completed homes are sold to a low and moderate income families.
