Annual Governor’s Deer Hunt to continue on in Appanoose County
Monday, January 04, 2016
Iowa Governor Terry Branstad is passionate about hunting, regularly finding success in taking down big game, issuing an executive order in favor of dove hunters in the state and even trying his hand at hunting wild hogs in Texas. His love of hunting is so well-known that the NRA endorsed him during the 2014 elections. He has also appeared on Drury Outdoors, a popular hunting show.
Each year in January, Governor Branstad holds the Governor’s Deer Hunt in the state. In 2015, the hunt took place near Centerville, in Appanoose County. During the hunt, he bagged a 10-point buck, the head of which he had mounted. (http://www.radioiowa.com/2015/01/08/branstad-and-reynolds-both-bag-bucks-in-2015/)
Branstad held the Governor’s Deer Hunt at Honey Creek Resort in Appanoose County in 2014 and has promised to hold it again in Appanoose in 2016.
