A state economic development board awarded a sports complex in Appanoose County $105,000 Wednesday to help with the complex's development.

The Vision Iowa Board, which is part of the Iowa Economic Development Authority, awarded the money for the second phase of the Lelah Bradley Active Living Campus project. The active living campus is part of a larger project run by Appanoose All Play, Inc., a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization based in Centerville.

The money is set to be used for the construction of two camper cabins in the Lelah Bradley Conservation area, the addition of a multipurpose soccer field, an irrigation system for the sports complex and additional parking. The total project cost is $600,000, according to the vision board.
