Appanoose County was given the honor of being named one of Iowa's Great Places in 2007, and it certainly lives up to it's title! With the addition of Honey Creek Resort State Park, the Appanoose County Trails System, the Morgan E. Cline Sports Complex, and other projects that are underway, it truly does make Appanoose County a great place to live!

Centerville is the county seat of Appanoose County and fine community where you can find most everything you'll ever need. The retail shops on the Historic Centerville Square boast clothing, shoes, pharmaceuticals, furniture, craft supplies, photography, candies, coffees, restaurants, and much more! The Centerville Rathbun Lake Area Chamber of Commerce can help you find what ever you might need right here. Take a cue from their motto - Centerville - Just Go There!

Centerville also has some fantastic annual events, including Pancake Day, the Centerville Iowa Wine & Fine Arts Festival, Centerville Civil War Days, and many active organizations that provide many other activities to enjoy throughout the year.

In addition to Centerville, Appanoose County is also home to Moravia, Moulton, Mystic, Exline, Plano, Rathbun, Numa, Cincinnati and Unionville, all terrific smaller towns with great people.
