Appanoose County takes care of veterans

Transitioning back to a civilian life after years in military service can be a daunting task for veterans. Finding gainful employment is one of the key challenges vets face.
Iowa is already known for being a friendly state. With the Home Base Iowa program, the state is taking it a step further, offering targeted resources for veterans. Appanoose County and the City of Centerville are proud to be one of few Home Base Iowa communities. Through the program, the community offers special services such as financial incentives and assistance with job placement for veterans. Excellent incentives for veterans are available too, including no tax for military pensions, a homebuyer's grant and automatic in-state tuition.
